In response to the Blue Lives Matter rally in Stratford on Sunday, July 26th, we have planned a rally in support of Black lives. We support Black Lives Matter, though we are not directly affiliated. Our district has proven that they can rally behind the police department before they can show support to the national movement when there hasn’t been any steps against our police. Blue Lives Matter is a countermovement that emerged after Black Lives Matter activists began protesting systemic racism and police brutality. It equates a removable uniform with a person’s race, as well as disregarding the disproportionate deaths of Black Americans. The quick response to defend police instead of back Black lives reiterates the fact that the black community as a whole is left unheard and dismissed, rather than listened to and accepted. Please bring signs, voices, and masks!!
