UnFourth Rally for Justice – Highland Park

July 3, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Rally for social justice on Raritan Ave between Lincoln & Adelaide Aves in Highland Park!

Participate in a call-and-response-style recitation of The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro by Frederick Douglass. The powerful words echoed by Douglass in 1852 still ring painfully true today.

Meet at the corner of Raritan Ave and South Adelaide near the bridge and line the sidewalks, keeping 6 ft apart. Masks strongly encouraged.
Bring a sign or make one when you arrive.

“The rich inheritance of justice, liberty, prosperity, and independence bequeathed by your fathers is shared by you, not by me.” -Frederick Douglass

Rain date: Sat July 4th 12pm-2pm

Photo description: A portrait of Frederick Douglass with the words: What, to the American slave, is your 4th or July? I answer; a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. To him, your celebration is a sham. (Frederick Douglass)
